We work out the exact, and fewest, applications you need to file with the US Copyright Office, the fees for each, and what would have been refused.

Prepare
Type a row per photograph into the Copyright Office spreadsheet: filename, title, publication month and year. A single group can hold up to 750 photographs.

The 750-photograph limit is the Copyright Office's own cap on a group registration, not our estimate. Preparation covers the spreadsheet and the deposit structure. You file on copyright.gov yourself, and we do not alter, rename, or convert anything on your drive.
Why register

Registration is your first line of defense, and the thing that makes an infringement claim worth bringing.

Statutory damages and attorney's fees are only available if the work was registered before the infringement began, or within three months of first publication. Miss that window and you are left with actual damages, which for a single photo is usually a licensing fee, minus the cost of a lawyer you now have to pay yourself.

Copyright exists the moment you press the shutter. Registration is the part that gives it teeth, and it is the part most working photographers never get around to.

In the digital age your images circulate anywhere and everywhere, and now they are training data. Registering your work has never mattered more than it does in the age of AI.

Registered in time
Statutory damages become available: a court may award up to $150,000 per work for willful infringement, at its discretion, plus attorney's fees. Awards vary widely, but the exposure is what gets a lawyer to take the case.
Not registered
Actual damages only. Often the price of the license the infringer skipped, and you pay your own legal costs to collect it.
